Telstra ramps up sports offering with NBL deal

Telstra have expanded their portfolio of digital sports content by continuing their partnership with the National Basketball League.

The telco will continue as the league’s technology partner but the purpose of growing their relationship is to help evolve the NBL’s digital footprint.

As they have done with their Australian Football League and National Rugby League apps, Telstra will now provide a live mobile app for the every NBL game. Full live coverage of the NBL will also be available via Telstra TV’s streaming device for the 2016-2017 season.

NBL General Manager, Jeremy Loeliger, commented on the partnership. “To deliver the best digital content to our fans, we need to partner with the best in the business, and we are very confident we have done just that. Together with Telstra we are revolutionising how the Australian public are able consume the sport of basketball.”

NBL Executive Director, Larry Kestelman, added. “One of our main priorities is to create Australia’s most innovative, technology driven sports entertainment product where fans can access content 24-7, live and on-demand, where ever they are in Australia and, where possible, internationally.”

Kestelman further added that more digital media and broadcast announcements would be made in the coming weeks.

The NBL season begins on October 6 with the newly returned franchise Brisbane Bullets hosting the 2015-16 champions Perth Wildcats.
