In this profile we spoke to Head in the Game.

Please give us your background on how your company was conceived.

I am a Registered Psychologist working with individuals, parents and high performance staff. Frequently, I have been asked by all my clients to deliver a consistent, teachable method that can be applied at scale and that integrates psychological date with performance data. We have brought together a team from the psychological profession, data science and high performance to deliver this method at any scale required.

Can you give your best elevator pitch?

We’re on a mission to ensure every athlete has access to critical mental skills utilised by elite athletes.

We help improve athletes enhance their performance via a six step method to track talent and improve, plan, prepare and perform psychologically.

Briefly describe your product.

Head in the Game delivers scalable psychological performance systems to sporting codes and athletes.HITG Logo B&W

Our proprietary PRIMED Method has been refined over 20 years of successful application with junior amateur athletes through to world champions.

This Method is delivered via a Playbook, App, Smart Card and via workshops for athletes, parents and high performance staff within codes.

What problems does your product tackle and the solutions that you are trying to solve?

Athletes do not have access to mental skills training and data that can profoundly improve their performance

Why?

  • Knowledge is hard to find or not accessible
  • Access to quality, psychological training is limited
  • Expensive and restrictive to access these methods today
  • Sporting codes have limited view of their talent pool from a psychological perspective
  • No integrated psychological and physical performance data

Have you identified a customer or target market?

Our target market in Australia is:

  • Sub-elite adolescent athletes and their parents, coaches and support staff
  • The Australian private school network
  • Elite and professional athletes

Our target market in the United States:

  • College athletes and their patents, coaches and support staff
  • Elite and professional athletes

How do you intend to scale your business globally?

Initially we plan on delivering customer success in Australia, followed by location to the US market. There is an opportunity to partner on a joint venture basis with a number of non-competitors offering complimentary products currently deployed in the US market.

Looking into the future, what do you foresee for your company five years from now?

Head in the Game is seen as a dominant source of valid, reliable psychological data that, in a sport-specific manner is applied at a code level to clients.

The SSI is a NSW Government sponsored program whose primary partners are Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA), NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS), SportsCamps Australia (SCA) and Lakeba, the technology partner. The SSI reviews and supports sports themed innovation (in software, hardware, nutritional and medical applications) that may have a direct and positive impact within the sports community as a whole from grassroots through to the elite.
