Rowing Australia inks landmark partnership with Hancock Prospecting plus other deals

The late deals before we head into a weekend of sport.

Rowing: Despite a mixed Rio 2016 Olympics, Rowing Australia has secured four-year principal deals with Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation.

The landmark deals means Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation will become the first ever principal partners of Rowing Australia and the Australian Rowing Team until September 2020.

Rinehart will also continue her role as patron of the sport.

The financial commitment is a massive boost to Rowing Australia as it embarks on the next four-year cycle to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It will provide long term investment to support the delivery of Rowing Australia’s new High Performance Plan CampaignNumberOne which was finalised earlier this year.

The underpinning principles of CampaignNumberOne includes the introduction of two centralised national training centres and bespoke state based pathway programs to nurture future talent.

An added key pillar of the partnership will be the provision of elite rowers with direct financial assistance to support their new centralised training environments.

The terms of the four-year deal gives Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation official naming rights to the Australian Rowing Team, an exclusive partnership of both national training centres and the state based national pathways programs.

Further details on the financial support package for athletes will be announced in September.

Basketball: The Brisbane Bullets have signed on wagering firm Ladbrokes as their major associate partner as well as making the company their official betting partner.

As part of the deal, Ladbrokes’ logo will feature on the back of the Brisbane Bullets playing jerseys.

The deal with the Bullets adds to Ladbrokes sports sponsorship portfolio having already locked in deals with NRL club Gold Coast Titans, A-League’s Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Racing Club.

Rugby Union: On the eve of the 2016 National Rugby Championship season, Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer Fuso has extended their support the Melbourne Rising.

Fuso’s branding will be on the front of the team’s new jerseys.

Fuso already has a sponsorship deal with in place with the Rising’s sister club, Super Rugby’s Melbourne Rebels.
