In Brief: PGA of Australia to be motored by Lexus plus more

Golf leads our dash through the brief news and deals.

Golf: A week after signing on Western Union as a sponsor, the PGA of Australia has secured Lexus as a multi-year partner of the Australian PGA Championship.

Lexus will hold the naming rights to the Lexus Marquee, a corporate hospitality space, as well as supplying vehicles for players and sponsors, be supplied on-course signage and on-site activations as part of the agreement.

Rugby League: Resurgent NRL club Cronulla Sharks has signed a partnership with the Battlefield computer game franchise.

The Sharks will collaborate with Battlefield video game developers Dice and Electronic Arts for an activation for the club’s round 25 home match against Sydney Roosters.

The team will wear a designed jersey, featuring elements of the soon-to-be-released Battlefield 1 game.

Commonwealth Games: Power solutions supplier Aggreko has won the bid to provide temporary power for the 2018 Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

As part of the deal, Aggreko will be the multi-sport events’ tier two sponsor and will power all 18 competition venues, the international broadcast centre, the opening and closing ceremonies and other non-competition venues, such as the Commonwealth Games village.

The company also won the contract to supply power for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
