Foxtel add to EPL portfolio with Tottenham Hotspur deal

English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur have completed a deal with Foxtel to become the club’s official broadcast partner in Australia.

The initial three year partnership was launched in Melbourne where Spurs are currently in the country to take part in the International Champions Cup pre-season tournament.

The deal, which will begin from the start of the 2016-2017 season, will see Foxtel carry a weekly three-hour programme featuring Tottenham Hotspur content. The financial terms of the three-year deal were not disclosed.

Optus holds the live rights to Premier League matches in Australia, but Foxtel will carry delayed coverage of all Spurs games.

The deal follows similar agreements with Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea earlier this year.

“We are delighted to announce a partnership with Foxtel,” said Aidan Mullally, head of business development at Tottenham Hotspur.

“Tottenham Hotspur has enjoyed fantastic support in Australia over the past two years visiting Sydney and now Melbourne.

“We look forward to collaborating with Foxtel to bring our growing fanbase exciting and engaging content via the programming block and Spurs TV features.”

Deanne Weir, managing director of content aggregation at Foxtel, added: “This exciting arrangement with our new partners at Tottenham Hotspur furthers our continued commitment to Football in Australia.”
