Canberra Raiders dial up Huawei extension

Canberra Raiders have announced an extension with major sponsor Huawei for a further three seasons in a deal that makes the Chinese tech company the longest-serving sponsor of the club.

Huawei branding will remain on the front of the Raiders playing jerseys until the end of 2019.

The information technology and communications company became the club’s major sponsor in 2012 with Canberra Raiders CEO, Don Furner, adding.”The Raiders are extremely proud to announce Huawei will be remaining with the Raiders for a further three seasons and eight seasons in total.

“This major sponsorship will become the longest running in the clubs history and we’re proud to be associated with a committed and rapidly rising international organisation.

“This partnership extension was negotiated and agreed to about three months ago, but we both decided to wait until the final home game of the season to provide our members and fans with the exciting news heading into the finals series.”

Huawei Australia Chairman, John Lord AM, said. “Huawei and the Canberra Raiders have built a solid and successful partnership over the past five years.

“Our consumer products are growing in popularity and the Raiders are playing an important role to push the Huawei brand out to more and more people.”

Huawei’s local sports sponsorship portfolio also includes A-League club Wellington Phoenix and AFL side Gold Coast Suns.
