In Brief: Davis Cup, Gold Coast Titans, Cycling Australia and much more

A swag of brief news and deals for Wednesday.

Tennis: Australia will begin their 2017 Davis Cup campaign on a hardcourt against the Czech Republic at Kooyong in Melbourne.

The Davis Cup World Group first round tie will be played from February 3-5 ,2017, less than a week after the conclusion of the Australian Open.

Rugby League: Fence hire company, TFH, has extended their sponsorship of the Gold Coast Titans and have taken the naming rights to the club’s $25 million training and administration facility in the Gold Coast suburb of Parkwood in a three-year deal.

TFH also inked a three-year extension of their chest plate sponsorship of the Titans playing jerseys.

Netball: Suncorp Super team, West Coast Fever, has appointed Tamara Sheppard as its new chief executive.

Sheppard joins the club from Basketball Australia, where she has served as the women’s program manager and team leader for the Australian women’s team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Motorsport: Supercars team Triple Eight Race Engineering has renewed its sponsorship with energy drinks brand Red Bull until the end of 2019.

Cycling: Italian manufacturer Santini has renewed its kit supply deal with Cycling Australia for a further three years.

Santini will provide the federation with elite-level apparel for Australia’s road, mountain bike, BMX, para-cycling and track national teams. In addition, it will continue to make the leader’s jersey for the National Road Series (NRS) leader.

The financial terms of the renewal, which continues a partnership that initially began in 2001, were not released.

“We’ve had an extremely fruitful 15-year relationship with Santini and look forward to maintaining the momentum through to the Gold Coast 2018 and Tokyo 2020,” said Nick Green, the chief executive of Cycling Australia. “This partnership runs deeper than just the jerseys on the backs of our riders; we see Santini as one of our technological and innovation partners.”

Sailing: NSW Department of Transport has signed an official safety partnership with the Sydney leg of professional catamaran racing’s Extreme Sailing Series.

The partnership will help the government department deliver their water and boating safety message.

Hosted by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, the event will be raced at Sydney Harbour from December 8-11.

Australian Rules: Melbourne has extended its sponsorship deal with motoring logistics company Automotive Holdings Group. The company will continue to be Melbourne’s principal partner, with its branding to remain on the front of the team’s playing guernseys.

AHG first partnered with Melbourne in 2013.

More Australian Rules: Statewide Super has become the naming rights sponsor of the SANFL new women’s league.

The league’s inaugural season begins early next year and will have the title Statewide Super Women’s League, and will feature four teams, Glenelg, North Adelaide, Norwood and West Adelaide.
